With more than 600,000 clients, the company operates in approximately 330 distribution facilities worldwide, providing service to over 90 countries. Sysco is ranked No. 54 in the 2018 Fortune 500 list of the largest United States corporations by total revenue.

As a Fortune 100 leader and the world’s largest food distributor, Sysco must always run on the latest supported software solutions in order to stay compliant to industry standards and regulations.
The company was using Output Center for print job management. This product was no longer supported by OpenText, and needed to be replaced.
As the company prints large amounts of distribution documents (so-called “Driver Ready Packs”) on an ad hoc basis in very small time windows, they couldn’t risk getting a fine because of a delay caused by a system outage of a legacy solution.
“For us at Sysco, the learning and improvement process never stops. We are always looking for new avenues of improvements. In all these years, OpenText has always been a great product vendor by continuing to add all these new features to the products.
And Ecodocx has been a really good service provider and partner of ours for a long, long time. They constantly empower us to go out and benefit from all the latest features available. They always provide strong expertise, and great development and coding skills, which we don’t have in-house. This helps us to continue moving forward with our business improvements.”

Bojan Elez,
CCM and EOM Solution Architecture and Administration at Sysco
Ecodocx team replaced the legacy unsupported OpenText Output Center with OpenText Output Server hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) private cloud.
OpenText VPOM will enable Sysco to simultaneously track print jobs on multiple printers in various formats and guarantee that critical documents are actually printed.
As a next step, both teams cooperated nimbly to replace the old Output Center-based print job management portal with a new custom-developed one and based on OpenText VPOM and OpenText Exstream 16.6. The new portal was called SUS Output Management.
The main goal of this portal was not just re-created the old portal, but to build a highly reliable and dynamically scalable infrastructure to accommodate “24/7 productivity with zero downtime”. The solution had to guarantee that all 180 operational locations across the U.S. provide regulatory-compliant documentation to all 90 destination countries.
The Output Management Portal is a reliable feedback channel, that was designed and developed to effectively manage enterprise-wide distributed printing in all output environments. It monitors the entire print environment and was configured according to the unique business needs of this leading logistics company. With its easy-to-use interface, the Output Management Portal provides key functions such as managing printer status, job status and notification of job completion. In addition, users can not only see that a job has been sent, but also that it has been successfully printed. In addition, users will be able to preview documents from Post-Processor repository, print them individually, manage printers configuration and reprint jobs.
Instead of looking up statutes on each print environment ( 3 production servers) separately, users have now a transparent overview of all environments from one user interface. This not only reduced the number of printing-related IT support tickets, but also drastically reduced the maintenance time.
Ecodocx helped Sysco to run on latest and supported solutions, get a 360-degree view of all document production processes, stay regulatory compliant and minimize the risk of system shutdowns and related fines.
The new Output Management Portal not only allows having a transparent overview of all processes, but also helps to work more efficiently, and thereby reduce labor cost.
